CH July Trip Update #3: L-City

Recovering from jet lag our day started out with great expectation of what lied ahead.  Two things were certain as far as we knew.  First, we knew we had a very long bus ride to L-City.   Second, we believed that we would arrive at the agreed upon time to make an appointment.   Of course, what we thought we knew wasn’t exactly what happened but in the end God had his plan and He will be glorified.  Much to our surprise, by the time we arrived to the bus station it was already too late, as all tickets had been sold.  Thankfully, our two drivers from the hotel hadn’t yet abandoned us so we hired them to drive us to L-City.  Little did any of us know that our drivers were not well acquainted with the roads and our two vehicles quickly got separated.  As we’ve all heard it and even said it ourselves, “nothing’s ever easy in China”.  As it turned out one vehicle arrived roughly about the time expected, in about five and a half hours; while the other vehicle arrived more than two hours later.  Needless to say, we were all beat but there was plenty to laugh about at dinner as we shared stories from the day and while we fellowshipped with some local friends we’ve known now for several years.
Once at the hotel, after the long road trip, a team member and our translator rushed off to teach more than a dozen other leaders fundamental precepts of our faith.  They spent a few hours with the group and although our team member was visibly and admittedly worn out, we all got the sense from what was said at dinner that his words were well received by the group.  No doubt, God worked through him this evening.  It will be exciting to see how God will continue to speak through him and use the team as a whole to do His great work.
Reflecting upon today’s events I can’t help but recall Isaiah 52:7, which says
“How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, who announces salvation, and says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns’”.

Please Pray:

  • For rest and recovery after a longer than expected travel schedule.
  • For the leaders that are being taught how to lead in the church.
  • For the teacher in our team that is spending long hours training and teaching. Pray for his energy, focus, and reliance on the Holy Spirit.
  • For divine appointments to be revealed for the team as they seek those that they might share with.
