Here is the latest until they head home…
What a week!
I am currently sitting in the lobby of our hotel in Beijing just trying to get my head around the things God has allowed us to be a part of. The longer I sit here, and believe me the workers are starting to look at me funny because I’ve been sitting here for so long, the more I realize I am taking on an impossible task. My brain just can’t handle all of the stuff God has allowed us to see this week!
We have had the privilege of seeing the brilliance and creativity of our master designer, while at the same time taking part in the Matthew 28 mission. We have seen seeds planted, some watered, and even had the joy of reaping a portion of the harvest!
As our team met earlier today there seemed to be a common thread that was woven through every comment made by our members. “Why me? Why should I be able to play a part in this?”
Plainly, we shouldn’t!
I am so deeply encouraged that this is has been the motto of our team this week. It seems that a comment like this is common for a people who understand that the message really isn’t about us in the first place.
Now, don’t get me wrong, we have a minor part in this story but the whole of the story is all about Him. Plainly, He drives the ship, has the boat named after Him, gets to pick the destination, and gets to do whatever else He desires. We just get to catch a ride!
I am so grateful that I get to catch a ride! Especially since I shouldn’t be allowed on the boat in the first place!
I’ve also been pretty encouraged that the ultimate destination of the ship isn’t up to me either. Yes, we get to play a part in the everyday workings of the ship, but ultimately Father is going to make sure it gets to where He is going!
Ok I’m done with that analogy. Here is my point… God is going to grow His Church whether we’re apart of it or not. We just get to choose whether or not we’re going to join Him for the ride.
As one of our team members says, “The ride is awesome!”
See you tomorrow! -JS
-For restful sleep (they are sleeping right now) as they leave on a shuttle in the morning for the airport.
-For safe travel home.
-For the Holy Spirit to shape their thoughts and memories in a way that their testimonies change lives back home.
-For more workers to be called to go on the next many trips….ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?
We will be sending out a final update announcing the team’s arrival back in the states. Please subscribe to this blog so that you can be a prayer partner on future trips AND so that you can keep up with updates regarding our brothers and sisters overseas. O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,
all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth! Psalm 8
