Update #5: Divide and Conquer
Ok, so we did not do any conquering today, but as ambassadors to the Light that conquers darkness we shined as bright as we could. We did divide our team today between two cities.
Six of us stayed in Joe City and worked in English classes in a high school. Later in the day the team was able to attend a local church meeting. What a great experience! There are many stories to tell about the Joe City team, but it was too late at night to get the details for this update. I will be sure to include them in the next update.
The other team, L-City team, has an action packed day. In the end we had sore feet. We left Joe City and travelled through some of the most amazing scenery to get to L-City. The Father’s handiwork was evident as we took in the beauty of His creation.
In L-City we went with a translator to follow up on relationships that we have made in previous trips. We were able to visit a local church and visit with some members. It was so great meeting with sisters from across the world. They sang a song for us out of their hymnbook. In return the music teacher in our group led us in an English hymn. It was such a powerful moment to connect with family.
We followed up with a family that we met in a previous trip. The daughter is in middle school and her father is unable to work. We have helped support her school costs and today we were able to pray over them with local family.
After dinner we went to the city square where many locals dance to music. It was fun to watch and a member of the team even jumped in to join them. It caused quite the spectacle.
A major highlight for this team was speaking with the local church members. When asked how we could pray for them their requests did not focus on their personal needs, but rather they were focused on growing the Kingdom through obedience to God’s Word. It was a humbling experience that we will not soon forget.
Tomorrow will be a busy day for both teams and we will reunite for dinner tomorrow evening. Thank you for being on this trip with you through your prayers.
- Pray for continued good health. Everyone is doing well.
- Pray for our efforts to love the people as we reach high levels of exhaustion. We have been busy non-stop since we arrived and fatigue will start to creep in if we are not diligently seeking to show God’s love.
- Pray for safety as we travel on the roads and in the air over the next few days.
- Pray for boldness as we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in engaging with others.
Till next time,
